Ancient sculpture in gypsum by Ferdinand Barbedienne and A. Collas
19th century - Michelangelo Buonarotti´s Moses
Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892) was a famous bronze sculptor who joined Achille Collas (1795-1859) in 1838. This sculpture is from that period and was signed by F. Barbedienne and A. Collas in the seal.
It has a small and well done restoration in the mantle on the side left.
Measurements: 42 cm x 21 cm x 17 cm
It is easy to find bronze sculptures by F. Barbedienne but it is quite difficult to find gypsum sculptures done by him.
It is signed and has a seal of authenticity printed on the sculpture.
I can guarantee that it is a museum piece, with more than 150 years of antiquity.
(It is probably the bronze outline of the Moses by F. Barbedienne)
