Oil on panel - signed on the bottom right
|Technique:||Oil on panel|
|Condition:||In good condition|
|Title of artwork:||"Trekpaarden langs de Maas met Stoomtrein"|
This work seems to have been made near Dinant. What’s for sure is that is depicts
a railway bridge over the river Maas. The smoking
chimneys indicate that it is likely an industrial area
. This is one of the more exciting subjects
of this artist, who had a lot of potential.
The more special subjects also seem
to be of a higher value at various auction houses, such as
Christie’s in the past. The work is in good condition and the
dimensions of the image are 30/43 cm.
Félix Eyskens (Antwerp, 1882 - Deurne, 1968) was taught by
a.o. Franz Courtens. He then went on to further develop his talent
at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, where one of his works received a
an honourable mention. At age 24,
Eyskens already worked in a painter's studio in Paris, where
his work did not go unnoticed. Eyskens settled in
Bornem, on the banks of the river Scheldt. Felix Eyskens mostly worked
outside, had a preference for Flemish and Kempen
landscapes and painted in an impressionist style.
