Persian carpet, Bidjar Malayer made in Iran, with certificate
|Material:||Wool on cotton|
This carpet was knotted around 1980 in the city of Bidjar.
The city of Bidjar lies approx. 150km north-west of Hamadan in the centre of the Kurdish region. The Bidjar carpets are knotted by the Kurds in approx. 30 villages and in the city itself. Contemporary items are characterised by an extraordinarily resilient, firm and almost board-like structure. The wefts are dampened. When using the striking paddle, the water oozes out and the wefts contract after drying. This explains the board-like condition. It is considered almost indestructible.
Made in Iran
Dimensions: 135 x 220 cm
Condition: in good, used condition. The carpet has normal signs of wear but is still okay for its age and can be stepped upon for a long time to come
