Circa 1970, Western Europe
An exceptional and relatively large ceiling light.
Although the ceiling plate is marked with a model number (7202-260), as is the edge of the lamp holder, we don't know which manufacturer produced it. We presume the origin is German or Italian, but we're not sure.
The lamp is beautifully designed. At first glance, it looks like a sober square, but it has subtle differences in height. The middle part is a few millimetres lower than the edges.
Additionally, it's made of opaline glass: white on the inside and transparent on the outside. Exactly in the middle of the sides, the transparent part is beautifully visible.
We think this is the most beautiful ceiling light we've ever had.
The square design goes very well with architectural modernism, and the lamp would be a perfect fit for a bungalow, house or apartment with a clearly divided layout. All in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius, Gerrit Rietveld, Oscar Niemeyer, Alvar Aalto, etc.
The ceiling plate is made of white, painted metal.
Note: the shade clamps to the ceiling plate by way of four clamps. These still hold and close excellently. Gravity doesn't seem to be able to get a hold on it.
Takes one E27 light bulb, in a screw lamp holder. The lamp holder is still original, and is made of Bakelite.
Width x length: 29 x 29 cm
Height: 11.8 cm
Weight: 3.4 kg
The visible part of the glass is entirely undamaged. It does have an air bubble of 6 mm in diameter that's visible below the surface of the glass. The inner edge, where the glass is clamped in the holder, has a few chips on the corners and is slightly rough. This is entirely out of view.
The ceiling plate is in neat condition, with minimal signs of wear on the paint. The visible side edges have almost no signs.
