* Kolář has been making 'striped' collages since the 60’s in which painting and poetry are combined: Jiří Kolář. Not so strange given the Czech, born in 1914 in Protivín, was a writer, poet, painter and translator. Kolář who died in 2002 in Prague became the (co-) father of new collage techniques, froissage and confrontage rollage with his experimental visual arts.
He exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris, the Institut für Moderne Kunst in Nuremberg, the Grosvenor Gallery in London, the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal and the Royal Museums of fine arts in Brussels. In 1968 he received a prize from the National Committee in Prague, and a year later, in 1969, the artist received the first prize at the biannual of São Paulo in Brazil.
