Late Jurassic to early Cretaceous (157 - 136 million years)/ China
Two fossil fish (Lycoptera) on matrix with beautiful details; Lycoptera is a fish species that lived between the late Jurassic and the Cretaceous. Lycoptera were probably schooling fish and mainly fed from plankton, the larger specimens from small insects.
They had a slender, elongated body with rounded snout and prominent mouth. On average they reached a size of seven to nine centimetres.
