Beautiful collector’s item of this old aircraft instrument.
The English name is accelerometer. It measures the positive and negative G-forces that acted on the plane and the pilot during complicated maneuvers.
The rear has a locking mechanism. The front has a so-called reset knob to set the indicators to 0 again.
The two indicators each stay on the maximum G-force.
So it was a good indication for the pilot for his physical load and the maximum amount of G forces that the plane could take in terms of the strength of the construction.
The instrument was very important in air battles.
The instrument probably comes from a German Luftwaffe hunter.
