A beautiful hand mask of the CHOKWE tribe from Angola. These masks were worn by men during festivities and initiation ceremonies.
Beautiful carved mask, made with eye for detail. The well-known coffee bean eyes in the large hollow eye sockets. The mask has a hood of fabric and rope and a collar of braided raffia. Very nice patina in red earth tones.
In good condition Traces of use and ageing.
