BMW - R100 Special - 1979
When I first saw this bike was in disuse but working, abandoned inside an industrial warehouse of Vercelli.
Mr. Enrico, now 70 years old, and owner of the motorbike in the past 35 years, was no longer able to drive it and by remembering the many adventures he enjoyed together with his motorbike, he did not feel right that the bike would stay abandoned.
It was on that day that, between one story and another, I signed the transfer of ownership of the BMW R100RT, with the responsibility of having of it as much care as he had.
Immediately after the purchase endless weekends followed, during when, with the help of my dear friend Gerardo, we worked hard to refurbish it and give it a new life.
We started disassembling all the pieces, repainting them, letting the engine be inspected, replacing all the gaskets and clutches already worn.
Rusty shocks were replaced with the latest Shock, hairpins instead were in good condition but were reviewed and changed all internal parts.
The worn saddle and the cuts have been replaced with a beautiful and comfortable hand-crafted genuine leather saddle.
Once completed, the result has exceeded our expectations and the bike has also received recognition from specially renowned blogs in the Special industry, that shared it praising its naturalness and timeless simplicity.
I later bought other bikes, discovering the great pleasure that you get from hard working to give a new life to abandoned bikes.
Today I'm here to sell this BMW R100, because, like Enrico, I love this bike and I don't like to see it parked in a garage without a new owner who enjoys it, because I can't do it anymore.
