Whilst Alphonse Mucha is widely known for his lithographs, his photographic work is no less interesting. Photos of Paris and New York models from belle époque era served him as a sketchbook and sampler for Mucha´s creative works. Mucha has been rightly classified among the most important European photographers of the 20th century, and he is also referred to as “the founder of the Czech school of classical nude photography.” A photo of a model from 1898 was used for a theatre production of Medea in Paris.
