Bob Immink was born in Amsterdam in 1930 and grew up in the Spaardammerbuurt district. At the age of 37, he moved to a detached house in Ilpendam with a nice view of the meadow areas of the Waterland polders. That landscape was captured by him in oil paintings with his characteristic broad brush strokes. He travelled a lot throughout his life and made sketches and paintings of the landscapes he saw: Greek temples, American mountain landscapes, deserts, abandoned villages in the Spanish Plains, etc. He was a passionate artist, who in his work, tried to reduce the landscape to its essence. Immink was called the master of omission. Thus showing that he eliminates all kinds of details in his work and only shows the essentials in powerful planes, without having the recognition of the landscapes that he captured disappear. All works radiate the artist’s powerful enthusiasm. In terms of colour, he was often very minimal, again reducing them to only the necessary, but sometimes also very explosive, without ever being intrusive or bold. One could also describe Immink’s work as being sensitive and driven, made with a high degree of craftsmanship.

    Response by seller
