They bought the car in 1991 new from the local VW dealership, see the original purchase invoice from 1991. The car has always been very well maintained and this is noticeable. The car starts directly and the engine runs very nicely and the car also drives very fine. The Syncro 4x4 frame also works properly without issues. The car was always parked in a heated storage of the fire department. This explains the very nice and non-corrosive condition of the car. The vehicle was never repainted and did not incur any damage.
