Antique +/- 1880 French early Gutta Percha inkwell.
This process 'bois durci' invented by Francois Charles in 1855.
The holder/base of the crystal inkwell is made of Gutta percha and also the lid,these are decorated with floral motives of leafs,flowers and chestnuts.
Measures; 4,72x4,33 inch.
Condition; The inkwell is in good condition,there is only a small chip at the rim at the back side base and on the inside of the inkjar, there is some wear on the copper edge; this is only visible when u open the ink jar. See photos 11&12.
