Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL armoured 1978, Formerly - Spanish Royal House.
It was used at the end of the 70s for official visits made by the Spanish Royal Family throughout the Spanish geography. All this is documented in multiple pictures and videos from the period. It also includes a certificate of authenticity issued by the Spanish Royal Family. The car is armoured and as a special equipment it has a sliding roof over the rear seats.
It also had mounted hydraulic suspension to withstand the heavier weight of the bodywork, the original flags and flags holders, and a sound siren. The motor is a 450SEL 6.9, the high-end and high-performance version of the W116. It is the version of long wheelbase of the W116 chassis, introduced in 1972.
The model was usually referred in the literature of the company as the "6.9", to separate it from the regular 450SEL. It featured the biggest engine of any non U.S. produced car after the Second World War. It is a 6900 cc V8 and has 286 horsepower at 5,000 rpm, it has a maximum speed of 210 Km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 Km/h in 9.3 seconds.
This special armoured unit weighs 2,230 kilos. It circulated for many years without registering (in the old photos you can see that it bore black plates with a Crown), by which it has been recently registered as a Historic Vehicle in Spain. It has a valid ITV (Spanish Vehicle inspection) and maintenance up to date.
The interior upholstery has been completely renovated, roof included. The vehicle is in driving conditions. In the front and rear shielded windows it can be seen as internal air drops emerge. (see photos). The odometer reading is 160,000 km, non-verifiable, but that must be real.
The car is in Santa Pol, Barcelona, (CP 08395) Spain.
