The face that has nice scarification's lines around the eyes giving it a strong expression, some cracks in the wood near the chin otherwise good condition ( see pictures).
Such masks appear principally at the funerals of chiefs and elders but are also used in annual performances that celebrate and teach the history of Lele origins and migrations. The Lele make masks that have much in common, both visually and functionally, with those of their neighbors in the central Kuba kingdom, but are much rarer.
It's quite seldom to find such a nice and expressive Lele with a good provenance.

There are more than twenty different types of masks that function within the men's initiation society. The Kuba Ngaady mask represents the ideal of beauty. It is one of three important Kuba mask, on the old picture taken at Mushenge in 1909 shows a similar mask: Ngady aMwaash, Bwoom, and Mosh'ambooy mu shall.
