Bronze statue of Narasimha (man-lion) with calligraphy to the front and back of the foot.
Narasimha is described as the fourth avatara (incarnation) of Vishnu in the older text of Hinduism. He has a human lower body, a lion upper boday and the claws and head of a lion.
He is worshipped by a large amount of people, especially by groups travelling Vaishnava, mostly in the south of India. Over there, Narasimha is primarily known as "the large protector" (liberal translation) as this shape of Vishnu primarily protects in times of need.
