Ngil is the gorilla, a mighty animal, that identifies candidates following initiation into the secret society.
In Ngil rituals, war is primarily waged against witchcraft and poisoning.
There are also shrines and baskets with bones and other materials, crowned with a monkey skull.
These baskets can take various forms, round or elongated. According to different sources, it seems that these baskets were used to prepare for the start of the hunt (monkey hunt?).
