R.D. Congo - 1950s - in very good condition
This authentic African sculpture measures 115 cm in length and accommodates 8 warriors with their removable oars.
The first rower acts as a guide and the last rower acts as a chaperone.
The canoe itself is beautifully sculpted and decorated. The teeth inside the animal head are ivory.
Sculpture has a beautiful tropical wood patina.
Presumed origin from the the Lega tribe (Iginga)
The measurements are as follows: length of the canoe is ca. 115 cm. The height of the total sculpture (without the 2 pedestals) is approx. 40 cm.
The pedestals are 12 cm in height.
Width of the canoe is approx. 15 cm. The width of the total sculpture including oars is approx. 45 cm.
