Wilhelm Freiherr von Gudenberg from Germany founded an art earthenware factory in ‘s Gravenhage around 1880. He came in contact with Th. C.A, Colenbrander in 1884 and there began an cooperation, wherein the original ideas about colours and shapes of Colenbrander changed the character of the production.
In 1885 the company moved to the former Buitenplaats (outdoor place) Rozenburg, and in 1887 the N.V. Haagsche Plateelfabriek - Rozenburg - was founded.
Until mid 1889 the so called “Colenbrander Earthenware”, was produced.
On new model plates, bowls etc., etc. bright blue colours, green, ochre and brown in sometimes asymmetrical planes were used.
Often the decorations and styling came from the elements of nature.
This plate is very rare.
