Born in Pistoia, in Tuscany, Marino Marini returned in 1917 to the Academy of fine arts of Florence to take painting lessons from Galileo Chini and sculpture lessons with Domenico Trentacoste.
Thanks to his talent, he was invited by Arturo Martini in 1929 to come and teach at Monza (near Milan) at the Villa Reale. He began to exhibit in Nice with the Novecento group, to travel to Paris and he received his first award at the Quadriennale in Rome for his work.
