In good condition
This Smith typewriter is in beautiful and good condition and has serial number SV90446. This is one of the first productions.
This special model with double keys was presented as something unique. The bottom row was for capital letters.
Also the placement of the ink ribbon holders was unique; they were mounted on the back in an upright position.
However, use by typists quickly proved that they had a lower typing speed compared to machines with single keys.
After 1913, they were forced to stop production because the machines were no longer sold.
The purchased machines ended up in the scrap yard and many of these machines were destroyed.
On the back is can be seen that one of the ink ribbon holders is missing; the ribbon is broken.
All keys work well, the roller runs smoothly.
One of the red-coloured keys on the upper right is bent and I’m afraid to bent it, as I am afraid it will break (photo 6).
The machine may be used with a new coil and ribbon, but may also be suited as a decorative addition.
This machine weighs ca. 15 kilos.
The machine will be properly packed and sent by insured and registered mail.
