Two coloured woodblock prints of a man and a woman on a background with beautiful design ("pillow print" model) – Japan – Around 1920
A so-called 'pillow print' is a woodblock print often depicting a soft-erotic scene. For example, a cuddling couple, a naked woman fixing her clothes, hair or make-up, or a woman having a bath. The depictions are framed and set on a neutral background.
These pillow prints of a man and a woman in beautiful Japanese clothing are in excellent condition with only some slight discolouration of the paper; they date from the 1920s. Here and there some light foxing spots. The left woodcut on photo 1 was designed by Kuniyoshi and the right one by Chikanobu
Measurements: Kuniyoshi design 27 cm x 25 cm, Chikanobu design 25.5 cm x 22 cm
The pillow prints will be shipped by registered post, in a sturdy cardboard packaging.
