This is a hand-knotted Keshan carpet, made of durable, natural materials.
Imperfections in the patterns and shape make this carpet unique and emphasise its authentic and artisanal character.
Keshan (or Kashan) is located slightly north of central Iran.
Keshan is one of the resting places along the Silk Road.
Characteristic for a Keshan rug is a beautifully designed medallion, with trees and figurative patterns.
Sometimes, Keshan rugs are completely covered in floral patterns. The most common colours are red, blue and beige.
Keshan rugs are durable, made of high-quality wool, often with a rich shine, on a cotton warp (bobbin thread). They are excellent rugs for regular use and have a high durability.
Later on, Keshan rugs were also made in India, in this case they are called oriental rugs.
This is a used carpet, which has become more beautiful and richer in character due to the natural ageing process.
This carpet is very suitable for a showroom, office space or large living room.
This carpet was imported from Iran before 2000.
