These first editions are the bibliography of the Duke de Villars, whose career began during the wars of succession of Spain.
Thanks to his flash victory of Denain, he saves the army of Louis XIV. As a reward, he will be made Governor of Provence.
A year before his death, Louis XV gave him the highest function: Marshal-General of the armies of France.
These submissions include the volume 1 and 2 (of 3). The latter being released a year after the death of the Duke, only the first was written by Villars, the two following being fake manufactured by the Abbot, who edited them.
