A beautiful pair of 1925 French art deco wall sconces in gilt bronze by Charles Ranc. The Schneider signed shades are done in mottled colored glasspaste. The authentic sconces are in excellent condition. Ranc started his company in 1909. Around 1925-28 Ranc produced art deco lighting in neo-classical style using coloured glasspaste shades by Charles Schneider. Both mounts are marked CR. In the 30ies his two sons Auguste and Eugène took over. La maison Ranc freres survived the war and in the 80ies it was sold to Arta a lighting company in Lille. Arta also obtained the old moulds of Ranc and made a huge amount of lamps with them in the 90ies. The sconces on offer are authentic 1925 ones and no worthless Arta re-edition (I can see that by looking at them but also cause I know that Arta never made copies of this model ).
I have cleaned the fixtures and placed an invisible protective layer against oxidation. The lamps are about 22 cm high and come 15,5 cm of the wall. They are currently wired with european E14 sockets. I can place old B22 ones on demand.
