Condition: Mediocre to reasonable. Scrapes and dents, mainly on the corners and edges. Leather loss at the bottom of the spine. The front cover has come loose from the book block (it is only attached with a string). As have the flyleaves and both frontispieces. The inner margin of the flyleaves and the first frontispiece have been reinforced with tape. The text block is discoloured. Some stains and moderate foxing, particularly on the first 100 pages. The title pages and the first 50 pages have stains and some folds.
Blind-tooled floral motifs on the covers.
Illustrated with 200 wood engravings.

In fair condition. Scrapes and dents. Leather at the bottom of the spine is coming somewhat loose from the binding. The joints are fragile, the covers are still attached with strings, the book block is still firmly attached to the binding. Water stain on the bottom of the front cover and up to page 35. First flyleaf is loose. Scribble on the second flyleaf. Text block lightly discoloured, occasional stains.
