In the 1970’s and 80’s he returned with his work to portraits and psychological studies (Franz Kafka, Samuel Beckett, Scream).
Jan Hladik, born 1927 in Prague, Czech nationality lives in Prague.
Participated in various biennales de la tapisserie in Lausanne.
The second 1965, the third 1967, the fourth 1969.

In the years 1942-1944 he studied at the National School of Graphic Arts in Prague with Prof. Vodrážka and Prof. Müller, his classmates were Václav Sivko, Vladimír Fuka, Mikuláš Medek. In 1945 he was admitted to the Art Academy, where he worked in his studio, painting and textile art design. He completed his studies in 1950, thesis - a collection of decorative tissue engineering.

After the communist coup in 1948, the family was sued. Jan Hladík was called into the work camp PTP, property of the family was seized, his father Jana Hladíka was later arrested and detained. After an accident in the army he returned to civilian life, despite the support of Prof. Fišárek the artist life was rough and he sought contracts in the field of textile art, graphics, drawings and ceramics, sometimes illustrated books.

In 1955, he married Jenny Hršelovou (Jenny Hladíková) and returned to the textile production.
In 1960 he was admitted to SČVU and exhibited textile work on the Triennial in Milan in 1963. He had his first solo exhibition in Prague and in 1965 he was invited for the first time for the International Biennial of Tapestry in Lausanne, for which the work than is selected, as well as in the years 1967, 1969, 1977 and 1979. He was one of the founders of Assotiation Pierre Pauli (1979). He was friends with Josefem Topolem. In the early 1970’s, the creation of tapestries with theatrical scenes inspired him (Tomášová, chips).
He later turned back to graphics and especially the drypoint technique. From that time, there are also a number of oil paintings.
