Frontispiece photo of the Melbourne Observatory, being a picture of the telescope in a Melbourne suburb, a plan of the telescope-house, another - closer - photo of the telescope, and three mounted, lithographed plates, numbered 1, 3, 4, showing many southern hemisphere nebulae. We do not know wether plate 2 is actually lacking or never published.
Wrappers soiled, front plate with endpaper and flyleaves loose, shelfwear to extremeties, dog-eared, with serious soiling to the margins; front pastedown with a crease into the illustration, short tear in the margin of the Nebula plates. back wrapper with bottom partly gone. The plate showing the telescope in close up is in good condition.
Not in a perfect state, and needing some repair. Nevertheless worth having because of its rarity and interesting contents including vintage photos of astronomical and historical value.. no copies for sale anywhere.
