Special Catholic edition on the conclusions of this historically important council.
The religious Council of Trent (1545-1563) (in Latin: Concilium Tridentinum) is one of the general or ecumenical councils. It is usually considered to be the 19th council and it was held from 1545 to 1563 in three parts: 1545-1547, 1551-1552 and 1562-1563. Its goal was to abolish irregularities and abuse within the Catholic Church. Furthermore, various disputed beliefs by the Protestants needed to be clarified.
