Two Viking barrel-shaped weights, iron with a copper-alloy casing, one with a star symbol and one with circle-dot decoration.
Weights used in the viking period were often based on the Byzantine system and were made with an iron core and copper-alloy shell. Decoration in the form of circle-dot decoration and other designs may have helped the user to identify the required weight from a series.
