Pigment print on fine art paper - AluDibond - Walnut frame & hanging system - ed. 14/30 - certificate signed by the artist -2017
|Titel van kunstwerk:||Ayla|
Size -90cm x 120cm
Limited edition of 30
This portrait has an extra, personal note for the artist as it is her daughter. 1/2 Turkish, 1/2 Dutch. Jitske Schols portrayed her beautiful daughter as Pegasus, the flying horse. This mythological story partly takes place in Lycia, the region in what is now Turkey and where Ayla was conceived (or so Jitske thinks...)..
In this picture Ayla is still a girl, but in the current exhibition "Ode aan een Amsterdammer, a city in portraits" in Het Scheepvaartmuseum a new portrait of Ayla shows her as a young lady. ABOUT THE ARTIST
After a successful 20-year career in communications (The Body Shop, Schiphol Airport) Jitske Schols changed course in 2013 and became a fulltime freelance photographer. Although she had always loved her previous job, this new step has made her a happier person. And happy she should be: within a year after her career change she was proclaimed New Dutch Photography Talent 2015 by GUP, and within two years, she was shortlisted for the Athens Photo Festival.
