Mid-Century Modern, Denmark
AJ royal pendant was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1957 to SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen (Radisson Blu) and was a part of the overall design concept for the hotel.
Arne Jacobsen designed two seizes for the AJ Royal concept. A small one, Ø 38 cm with an acrylic opal base plate, which diffused the light so it could be hung high up. The larger version, Ø 50 cm was without diffuser and fitted with four bulbs, so it was for use at low height.
Moreover, the open rings at the top faintly illuminate the fixture.
Near mint condition, look at the photos, light gray lacquered metal,
Diminsions: Diameter 50 cm, Height 24 cm
