Welcome to Passion d'Orient:
Kazakh is the generic term used to classify a heterogeneous group of carpets from various areas of the Caucasus. The 19th century Kazakh carpets were entirely knotted in wool, featuring a long and shiny pile, and large colourful geometrical designs, varying according to the production area. During the 20th century, the beauty of both the colours and the original and fanciful designs was rediscovered. These were always made from memory by women who passed this great tradition from mother to daughter over the centuries. This is how the Caucasian carpets began to be appreciated and sought-after by enthusiasts and collectors, gaining a high value and taking a prime position in the panorama of oriental carpets.
