Imperfections in the patterns and shape make this rug unique and emphasise its authentic and artisanal character.
This Mir is knotted in India, originally Mirs are knotted in Iran.
Mir carpets are knotted in the mountainous area in and around Arak, in western Iran.
Characteristic for a Mir is the contemporary design, called Boteh or Paisley pattern, a drop-shape with the tips pointing in one direction.
A Mir often has a continuous pattern, but some have a medallion and corner patterns.
Mir rugs are durable carpets made of wool on a cotton warp. They are often thick, full carpets with exceptionally high durability.
This is a used carpet; often, these become more beautiful and richer in character due to the natural ageing process.
