HEREKE

This is a silk carpet. The Hereke silk carpet is known worldwide as a term for quality. Such high-quality pieces are increasingly rare to find, as many of the knotting regions around Hereke were destroyed during the big earthquake in 1990. Next to both traditional motifs and patterns, the Hereke carpets also offer pleasing Ottoman motifs. This unique synthesis redefined the art of the carpet. The carpets from Hereke became very popular in all of Western Europe within a short period of time and were sought after as decorations for the most splendid palaces of the time. The knotting master chose only the finest materials and knot types.

The knotting master created a masterpiece with this carpet.
