Stylistic Antelope mask from the BAMBARA tribe of Mali. Crafted with white, blue and red kaolin, it has wooden horns.
Every 7 years the Korè community has an initiation ritual of teens who have to go through a symbolic death and rebirth. In this initiation, fire and masculinity stand central. These kind of masks can have different meanings during the ceremonies, such as knowledge, courage or energy.
Beautiful design and in a very neat used condition.
