A dyed carnelian ritual bead with a special design from the early Pyu Culture, 200-1000 CE, Upper Myanmar. Original, ancient, hand cutting, carving, dying, boring and grinding. Its colour is original, natural one. The holes are ancient, handmade, irregular, funnel-shaped.The dying is partly gone. Nice Ancient patina! D : 14 mm

Pyu Culture:
The Tibeto-Burman speaking Pyu people migrated in approx. the 8th Century from China into Burma and are the county’s earliest recorded inhabitants.
Most of pre-Pyu Culture flourished around the Samon Valley in central Myanmar.
They established the Pyu kingdom which remained powerful and influential for a millennium.
The kingdom established important trade ties with the Chinese and Indians from whom they adopted some practices such as Buddhism.
