THRILLED POSTER.....ARTWORK by RANDY TUTEN........JONI MITCHEL....................
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The late 1960’s and early 1970’s were a particularly exciting time in music. One of the most interesting folk rock groups that claimed an enormous amount of records sold was the trio Crosby, Stills and Nash later joined occasionally by Neil Young. At one point in their career they were more popular in the United States than the Beatles. Of course, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well.

The initial trio had come from different rock groups legendary in their own right like THE BYRDS, BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD and the British group
THE HOLLIES.
One of the artists that appeared as an introductory artist during an early Crosby, Stills and Nash Concert in Chicago was the aspiring singer Joni Mitchell who later wrote the famous “Woodstock” song performed by CSN at the incredible Woodstock Concert in upstate New York. In 1974 she designed the cover for the new Crosby, Stills and Nash album titled SO FAR and put her signature proudly on the front cover. I am not sure that the record liner is the original one. I have not checked another copy, as these 1970’s records are harder to find in good condition, especially the cover art we collect.

This hand drawn cover design reminds me somewhat of Jean Cocteau’s art of the fifties and sixties. Aside from being great music makers, the CSN Band played an important role as songwriters in the development of the pop culture and the accompanying political agenda.
The song Ohio was about the shooting of students at Kent State University in 1970 and so was the song ” Find the Cost of Freedom” that is also on this album. Iconic music and exciting times for those ’68ers with flower power. Joni Mitchell is an exceptionally gifted artist and a very well known painter. In our small record cover collection we have another record cover designed by her covered in a previous post.
And the rest is HISTORY.......................................

A very striking psychedelic JONI MITCHEL/ Randy Tuten Artwork, not easy to find, framed brilliant and very beautiful.
The poster has been very carefully preserved for many many years, and is in a perfect condition.
A very very clean poster, bright colors, framed beautiful. …
