1907, Copenhagen, Denmark
Stylish solid silver bouilloire by Peter Hertz. The bouilloire has many Danish Design influences and the period of the New Art (Art Nouveau).
The Peter Hertz workshop was, together with Anton Michelsen and A.N. Dragsted, 1 of the 3 founders of the famous Danish Design. They were very innovative in their designs, inspired by the likes of Siegfried Bing in Paris with its Japanese art and later Art Nouveau.
Also they won several exhibitions in Malmö, Liverpool, Paris and Chicago. The workshop was renowned world-wide and successful. In 1906 P. Hertz could be called the purveyor to the Royal Household and made several pieces for the Royal Family. So, this piece was made one year later after his title as purveyor for the Royalties.
There are not many pieces known under the name of P. Hertz, the pieces out there, from early last century, are often designed by well-known designers as John Rhode, Thorvald Bindesboll and Harald Slott-Moller. This piece is designed by Christian F. Heise.
