1950, France (Lyon)

This beautiful floor lamp has been restored down to the last detail, it was designed by the French engineer Jean-Louis Domecq for Jielde. These lamps were mostly used in workshops as work lights. The unique feature of this lamp is the pivot point. Normally loose wire is used in pivoting lamps, with often leads to cable breakage at the pivoting point over time, due to rubbing. In 1950, the French engineer devised a secure, unique and patented alternative, in which copper plates are placed between the hinge points. These rings guide the electricity through the whole lamp. A technique that was later adopted in the designs of various other designers.
This beautiful 6-armed lamp is an original copy from 1950 with a beautiful, brushed stainless steel/aluminium look. This look fits into any interior, be it modern or industrial. The heavy base ensures a perfect balance in any position. The foot is large and heavy enough to let the lamp stand stable in many different positions. With most lamps on offer, a foot that is too small/light is used, causing the lamp to fall over at the slightest movement, with all the associated consequences. The maximal height of these lamps is 270 cm. This lamp has a completely dent-free lamp shade and a perfectly round and unpleated handle, which is very exceptional.
It is rare to find these lamps in perfect and spotless condition at auctions.
This is a beautiful copy to use in your interior if you like an interior with beautiful, industrial or vintage lighting. The electrics have been renewed to current legislation, so there is no danger of short-circuiting.
The lamp functions perfectly and has a modern E27 lamp socket, so you do not need to go out and search for old bayonet lamps. In short, this industrial piece of art can be enjoyed for years to come.
