934/1000 silver, 21.8 cm and 9 grams
Beautiful antique spoon in good condition. Considering the age I would even say it is in excellent condition!
The stem has an engraving that at the top moves into a medallion with a bow.
The spoon has an adhesion with a double drop.
The front of the spoon is rich with colours: the 2 city shields of Utrecht, as a hallmark for the city of Utrecht, the letter O which stands for 1797 and the master mark in a rectangle: IVN = Jacob van Nieuwcasteel.
Also it has a tax mark of a ‘crowned O’, which stood for mandatory reinspection in 1807 and finally a crowned V = a Dutch tax mark from the 19th century.
The spoon still has a control mark, which was used by the guilds to check the grade of the silver.
Also the model is interesting because it is a less common type, it looks like English models but a small number were made in the Netherlands.

De cassette was zeer slecht verpakt. Het zilveren bestek lag los in de cassette met een vel noppenfolie erover en de cassette was in een doos geplaatst. Hierdoor lag alles over en door elkaar. Zonde!
