Persian carpet, Bidjar Malayer made in Iran, with certificate
|Material:||Wool on cotton|
|Condition:||Overall in good condition with traces of ageing and usage|
This carpet was knotted around 1980 in the city of Bidjar.
The city of Bidjar lies approx. 150km north-west of Hamadan in the centre of the Kurdish region. The Bidjar carpets are knotted by the Kurds in approx. 30 villages and in the city itself. Contemporary items are characterised by an extraordinarily resilient, firm and almost board-like structure. The wefts are dampened. When using the striking paddle, the water oozes out and the wefts contract after drying. This explains the board-like condition. It is considered almost indestructible.
Imported to Germany around 1960
Made in Iran
Dimensions: 132 x 325 cm
Condition: in good used condition, fringes have signs of wear, the carpet still has a lot to give

Please note: some elements on this page have been translated automatically.The carpet "got lost" at the sellers warehouse and was never delivered. I am very disappointed since it probably was a very nice carpet at a good price.
