1st half 20th century – in good condition
This batch of two hardwood boxes from Java consists of:
- 1. A beautiful, large box with a pattern with two birds (Garuda's) at the top. Skilled wood carving with very many details. The box is made of tropical hardwood.
Condition: The box is in good condition The lid closes well, the hinges are good and the lock works just fine.
Measurements: length 26,5 cm, width 17,5 cm, height 5,5 cm. Weight 680 g
- 2. A beautiful old writing box with two birds in the front. The material is tropical hardwood with beautifully edited details. Inside there are boxes for stamps and a large box for stationary and/or envelopes.
Condition: The box is in good condition, but has some frontal and upper side damage (see picture 5). This damage is old that has been nicely rounded due to use of the box over the years.
Measurements: length 25.0 cm, width 14.5 cm, height 5.5 cm. Weight 700 grams.
The boxes will be shipped by registered post or can be picked up in The Hague.
