J. Le Blanc (pseudonym of A. Terhell - 1863-1949) - Vissersvrouwen en zeilboot

Adriaan Christiaan Willem Terhell (Venlo, March 7, 1863 - Beverwijk, 28th of April 1949) was a Dutch painter who worked in the Romantic tradition. He lived and worked in Bussum until 1885 and afterwards in the Hague until 1943. Here he was appointed in 1899 for many years as a painter of family crests by the High Council of nobility. During the last years of his life he resided in Twente, in Denekamp and Enschede as well as other places. Terhell was a painter who has left a large oeuvre, consisting of landscapes, sea and river views, village and city views. In addition to oil paintings he produced many watercolours and gouaches under his own name, but also under pseudonyms J. le Blanc, Ch. Petit, P. L. Jacoby and, to a lesser extent, C. de Zeeuw. Terhell died at the age of 86 in Beverwijk, his last place of residence. (Source: Wikipedia, as visited on 8 August 2017). Charming traditional Dutch scene. Painting in pretty good condition but needs to be cleaned. Especially in the sky there are signs of crackle. Frame with plaster finishing and colouring. Frame is slightly damaged but not in sight. Dimensions of the frame 64x49cm. It has been in family possession for decades, its origin is unknown. Pick up is preferred (near Eindhoven). Shipping is also possible; the costs of proper packaging and insured shipping are at the buyer’s expense, in consultation.
