Very good condition, near mint.
All Mercedes-Benz cars, produced before and after the WW2 had a proud rigid star on the grille, like mascottes as so many other makes of cars. did have. However,
as these mascottes could inflict terrible wounds when a pedestrian was hit, these rigid mascottes were strictly forbidden in the beginning of the fifties of
the former age. Many firms changed their mascottes to flexible ones or abandoned them, yet Rolls Royce and Mercedes-Benz continued to produce them, albeit
changed to flexible ones.
For auction offered is one these Mercedes-Benz rigid stars, assumed to have been removed from a passenger car when almost new and
the rigid stars were forbidden by the Governments.
Hence, due to the above and the well-known perfect quallity of all Mercedes chrome parts, the star and the other chrome part are stil in very good condition and were kept in a collection of automobilia all these years.
It is believed that this star could have been mounted on the Mercedes-Benz models 180, 190 and 220 series of the early fifties.
