Felix Eyskens (1882-1968) - Vlaams winterlandschap

Felix Sauter (Stabroek, 1882-1968) was a Belgian painter. He was educated at the Academy in Antwerp. A pupil of Franz Courtens and Juliaan De Vriendt . He went on to develop his talent further at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, where one of his artworks received an honourable mention. From 1913 he settled back in Belgium in particular in Bornem and then from 1919 he moved to Ranst, where he found plenty of inspiration in the Netelandschap and the neighbouring Winch with its beguinage and white-washed cottages. Felix Eyskens worked outdoors most of the time and had a preference for Flemish and Kempish landscapes. Mentioned in the Belgian art books and an internationally well-known painter. The work is dated 18/04/1943. When the winter period lasted much longer than it does now. Oil on canvas on panel ( 27 x 40 cm ) in food condition, but is no longer stuck down on the bottom and a bit bumpy, however this is not very distracting (see last photo). With a frame ( 58 x 45 cm ) in god condition with some wear. Will be sent by insured and registered mail with track and trace with BPost.
