The Venus de Milo or Aphrodite of Melos is a world famous Greek marble sculpture. The sculpture was probably manufactured around 130 BC, and it is thought that Alexandros of Antiochia was the sculptor. The sculptor used the white marble of Paros, which became famous in antiquity. The sculptor was found in 1820 by a farmer in a field found on the Aegean island of Melos (Italian: Milo) in the Cyclades. The sculpture can now be seen in the Louvre in Paris. The Venus de Milo is considered the symbol of eternal beauty. The last picture shows the original sculpture.
