This is a hand-knotted Afghan rug, made of durable, natural materials. The way it is knotted and the diversity in patterns make this carpet unique and emphasise its authentic and artisanal character.
Afghanistan is located east of Iran and also borders Turkmenistan and Pakistan. Afghan rugs have patterns in the shape of elephant's feet, ‘Göls’, or octagons (8 sides), often surrounded by angular flowers in dark blue or anthracite.
Afghan rugs are durable rugs, made of shiny wool, often from goats, on a wool warp. They are good rugs for daily use, with high durability.
This is a used carpet, which has become more beautiful and richer in character thanks to the natural ageing process.
