Russian fed 5 camera in working condition. 

Externally it is a Leica copy, but internally it’s entirely a Soviet structure.

The FED 5 is one of the most complete models.

The FED 5 c is identical to the FED 5: it has the frames that surround the area framed in the viewfinder, but loses the eyepiece dioptre correction. Glory of models 5 and 5 c (visible in the picture) is the light meter. Is not paired and is not very sensitive, but at least it's accurate.

The standard lens is 53 mm f/2 8 (sometimes there is the 55 mm) screw mount 39x1, the same of the old Leica cameras. The quality is good even at full aperture. Most suitable lenses for rangefinder cameras are the 35 mm and the 85 mm (shown in the pictures).

At the centre is the multi-focal viewfinder, indispensable to have an exact vision of framed angle with lenses different from 50 mm, since in attack for FED there is no reference.

Finally, a handy little viewfinder that delimits the area framed by the 85 mm. The price? Just 15,000 lira! All that to say that even the equipment is really affordable for any budget.

Born in the 1930s as a copy of the first Leica, the FED is a phenomenon destined to last in Russia more than 50 years. 

While German manufacturers search for technical and aesthetic alternatives solutions to Leitz patents (Contax cameras), in the beginning Russians and Japanese copy, without any modesty, managing sometimes to go on the market under the brand name Leica cameras that now are genuine collectors’ items.
