Amongst splendid Persian tribal carpets, the ones belonging to the city of Farahan considered as the finest in particular ones made around the nineteen and early 20th centuries. Farahan rugs were highly fashionable particularly in Europe, where many are still to be found in historic houses and country site mansions. Farahan rugs simply have distinctive characteristics with the detailed floral fields. This antique Persian handmade wool Kalleh Farahan carpet is considered as one of these wonderful pieces. Measuring 400 x 180cm (13’x5’9”) and dated in Iranian calendar 1293 ( more than 100 years old ), it has the open field with repeated floral and geometrical motifs in midnight blue ground and enclosed with similarly rich red multi-borders.
Condition report: Professionally cleaned and washed with consistent pile very minor localized wear commiserated with age.
